Prep & Environment:
Keep your workspace cool, ideally at 20-25 degrees, with humidity levels between 40-55% using air conditioning or cooling fans.
High humidity can slow the lash glue/adhesive curing, while very low humidity makes it cure too quickly; either of these issues will cause problems with lash retention & longevity!
Using a dehumidifier can help, & ensure good ventilation without direct airflow on your working environment.
Â
Lash Glue/Adhesive Management:
Store lash adhesive in a cool, dry place & consider using a slower-drying formula designed for higher humidity during really hot periods.
Work with smaller adhesive drops & replenish more frequently since heat can cause the adhesive to thicken faster, making it too thick & sticky & not easy to work with.
We recommend using a jade stone & glue dot, this will keep lash/adhesive glue cooler than using deep glue rings & glue trays!
Client Comfort:
Encourage your clients to arrive with clean, makeup-free lashes & suggest they avoid heavy SPF & moisturisers beforehand, as heat causes oily skin/sweating & this can affect glue bonding.
Provide cooling fans for client comfort, & schedule appointments during cooler parts of the day when possible.
Application Technique:
Work more quickly but carefully, as adhesive may have a shorter working time.
Use slightly less adhesive per extension to account for potential expansion in heat.
Take brief breaks & use fresh, cool non-oily hand wipes to prevent your hands from getting too warm, which can transfer heat to the adhesive.
Aftercare Instructions:
Advise your clients to avoid steam, saunas, & excessive exercise for the first 24-48 hours.
Recommend using a small fan to gently dry the extensions if they get damp from perspiration, & suggest using waterproof mascara alternatives if they need to apply eye makeup to their bottom lashes?
Maybe recommend a good dark lash tint at least 24 hours before eyelash extension application to enhance the natural lashes, top & bottom?
This can encourage your client’s that they do not need to apply mascara (win-win for us lash techs)!
